A Decade of Astrological Practice

Charlie Cross started reading astrology charts in 2013 after an initiatory injury opened him up to the magic of the cosmos. Since then, he’s given thousands of readings to people from all walks of life, all over the world.

Aside from running his own consulting practice, Charlie helped design the astrological explorer function on the popular Sanctuary app, a top-5 astrology app worldwide, through which he also gives readings.

Embodied Astrology

Charlie is chiefly interested in astrology as a tool for navigating embodied experience—how the movements of the heavens are mirrored in the body and our somatic experience. Since 2018, he has been teaching embodied astrology, a practice informed by his intensive studies in qigong, the somatic arts, and Rudolf Steiner’s Eurythmy, as well as his background as an athlete who has competed internationally in ultimate frisbee.

His work is also rooted in the healing traditions of astrology: he has been studying Medical Astrology under Will Morris since 2018 and is currently in the research stage of completing Kepler College’s Astrology and Healing Certificate. Charlie is presently a graduate student in acupuncture and Chinese medicine, which shares many of the same elemental understandings as the Western humoral medicine tradition of which astrology is a part.

Astrology and Anthroposophy

Charlie developed his astrological theory and practice while studying and living at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland, from 2019-2023, where he was a coworker at the Math and Astronomy Section and editor of the weekly journal Das Goetheanum, which was started by Rudolf Steiner in 1921. At the Goetheanum, he was a contributor to the colloquium series, “Astrologie, Freiheit, und soziale Gestaltung” [Astrology, Freedom, and Social Design], undertook studies in Color Theory and Painting Therapy with a particular focus on Rudolf Steiner’s indications for the zodiacal colors, and completed the Foundation Studies in Anthroposophic Medicine.

Star Poetry

Initially trained in Evolutionary Astrology, today Charlie practices what he calls Star Poetry, which is a term coined by his teaching colleague, Olivia Pepper. Although this method can make use of many different forms of astrology, Star Poetry focuses on the dynamic, participatory aspects of astrology. This form of astrology centers our creativity and free will in relation to the stars, seeing destiny as a process that requires our conscious engagement.
